Accompanied by Tukhtasinov Ilkhomjon Madaminovich, President of Samarkand State Institute of Foreign Languages, Tian Xuejun visited the photo exhibition and the teaching achievement exhibition of the Confucius Institute, and then went into the classroom to have a friendly exchange with students. In the calligraphy class, he said that although the Chinese brush is soft, it can write strong and forceful calligraphy, which contains the philosophy of combining both softness and strength in Chinese culture. He hoped that, while learning Chinese language well, students can further deepen their understanding of Chinese culture. In the simultaneous interpretation class, he shared his experience in learning foreign languages with the help of newspapers and radio, and encouraged students to practice diligently and constantly improve their Chinese and interpreting skills.

Afterwards, Tian Xuejun watched the performance of the report on the learning achievements from the students at the Confucius Institute and delivered a speech. In September 2013, the Confucius Institute at Samarkand State Institute of Foreign Languages signed a cooperation agreement under the witness of the heads of China and Uzbekistan and its Chinese partner is Shanghai International Studies University. The Confucius Institute at Samarkand State Institute of Foreign Languages has a teaching area of 600 square meters and a total of 780 students registered in 2018.
